Untold Story From May Election: Local Funding Measures Passed Big

Here’s one important story, that’s so far been buried beneath the attention paid to candidate races and–in Portland–the attempted takeover of the water board: Around the state, voters went in big for local funding measures.

Overall, voters approved 74% of the local bonds and levies that were up for a vote on the May ballot. These measures were put on the ballot to fund services ranging from schools to fire protection to law enforcement and more. It’s further proof that Oregon voters are largely supportive funding the schools and critical services that impact their daily lives.

Ballot Measure 66 & 67 must be defeated. The dtbaee of the State needing more funds for schools, children and other social services may be valid but can not be truly verified. It seems that everytime Salem or the City want to impose taxes/fees/bonds it is for these three things.Their Only Emotional Plea.I don’t know about the rest of you (yes I do) but in today’s market place you must impose cut backs into your operating model in order to survive. I do not see this happening in our Government run agencies and school systems. Let’s try to increase efficiencies in the State motor pool or why do we need 13 School Districts and all the Administrative layers that needs to be supported? You must change the source of the problem rather than continuing to just throw money at it and hope that it works out.VOTE NO!
